How do I go about Getting a Monogram?
The fun thing about your monogram is that you can create one on your very own computer! One of the easiest programs you could possibly use is the Microsoft Word application, or you can try out PowerPoint too. Check out all of the different fonts and see which you prefer.
If you are a bit more skilled at graphic design, you can try out another program, such as Adobe Illustrator.
Monogram Etiquette
When it comes to monograms, the bride’s initial always goes first. If the bride takes the groom’s name, then the order of the lettering is: the bride’s first initial, the now-shared first letter of the last name, and then the groom’s initial. The last name letter in the group is usually larger to signify the new union.
If a bride decides to keep her own last name, you can either have a four-initial monogram (this would be the brides first and last name, and the grooms last and first name) or, more popularly, they will simply have the first two letters of their first names be included in the monogram.
Prior to you both saying your “I do’s”, if you do choose to have a couple monogram present, you may get a bit of a hard time from your guests. Remember, this is your wedding, so you can do anything you choose to. You can make up separate monogram sets for before and after the wedding ceremony if you choose.
