How to Celebrate your Engagement

Becoming engaged is a very special time in every bride- and groom-to-be’s life.  After all, there’s a good chance that this will be the only time that you both will be engaged, so you should enjoy it and celebrate it!  Here are some fun ways in which you can celebrate your new engagement.

The Thrilling Weekend Away

Why not really celebrate your engagement with your beau and take off for the weekend?  Pack up your bags and head out to a fancy hotel a couple hours out of town, private cottage, cabin, or a B&B for some R&R.  You may want to consider inviting your close family and friends to celebrate, or you can keep it just between you and your fiancé.

The Backyard BBQ

If you don’t have the time to run off for 48 hours to spend time alone with your fiancé, you may want to consider throwing a good old fashioned backyard barbeque!  This is a great way to have family and friends from both you and your groom’s side to meet and mingle prior to the big day.  Try to set up your food so that it is a buffet-style barbeque (this will help get people talking to one another) and offer French fries, hot dogs, burgers, potato salad, and ice cold beverages.  You can finish off the evening with a BBQ-style dessert, like s’mores or roasted marshmallows.

The Sophisticated Cocktail Party

Cocktail parties are always appreciated by guests, as they have a touch of sophistication and elegance.  You can either hold the cocktail party in your own home, or you can try throwing it at a trendy hotel downtown, at a high end restaurant, or even a private lounge.  To really make the day special, ask the bartenders if they will be able to make a special “signature” martini or cocktail for you two.

The Charming Garden Party

Garden parties are a classic choice for celebrating an engagement.  These are particularly wonderful if you choose to throw an engagement party brunch on a warm and balmy spring day.  You can throw the garden party at a local park, your backyard, or any restaurant that has a courtyard available.  You can always try to locate a botanical garden in your area and see if they have a courtyard or even a restaurant you can use to throw your garden party!

The Sun-Kissed Beach Party

Is there anything more fun than spending an afternoon or an evening with your close friends and family at the beach?  If you happened to get engaged in the middle of summer, break out your coolers and the portable barbeques, because you’re throwing a beach engagement party!  You can cook up foods as simple as burgers and hot dogs and pass around some cold beverages to celebrate.  To put a really great end to the day, finish it off with a bonfire by the water.  Now that is going to be one beach party that your guests will never forget!
